Don Grant, CFP®

From US Naval Officer to real estate entrepreneur and Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, Don Grant’s multitude of life experience and travel have given him a tremendous set of tools to help guide his clients through the complexities of wealth management.

A fourth generation Californian; Don's career as a television journalist and news anchor for NBC brought him and Barbara to the Midwest in 1994, and to Wichita in 1998. In each market that Don worked as a journalist, his interest and experience compelled him to specialize in coverage of local business issues.

Don chose to join CTHB after 11 successful years with a large international wealth management firm where Don received a tremendous education and exposure to financial planning challenges and solutions. He is proud to bring that experience to CTHB; a locally-owned and managed firm with a rich 35-year history. Don determined that he can best serve his clients’ needs through the open investment architecture provided by a truly independent practice.

Financial success can be found through holistic planning and follow-up. Investment decision-making based upon a specific purpose is much clearer than investments made in a vacuum. Money has emotional ties. And many poor financial decisions can be made when emotions overwhelm investors. Don helps his clients prudently manage their wealth, by creating a solid financial plan based upon their unique circumstances.

Don and his wife Barbara are raising two teenage daughters; Abigail and Natalie. Staying in Wichita to work in wealth management after Don left television news in 2001 is one of the best decisions that he and Barbara have made for themselves, and their daughters. Integrity, hard work and respect for others are just a few of the Midwest values that Don and Barbara cherish passing on to their daughters. Barbara continues to cover local events and cooking segments on KSN TV's noon show.

Wichita has been great for Don and his family, so he gives back to the community through board membership and leadership in several organizations: The Wichita Wagonmasters, The Wichita Art Museum, Wichita Festivals, The Andover YMCA's Y's Men's Club. He is also proud to have contributed through past leadership on WSU's Fine Arts Advisory Board, The Kansas Aviation Museum, WSU's Students In Free Enterprise, the Financial Fitness Foundation and numerous USD259 and USD385 committees.

Don took on the rigorous Certified Financial Planner,M course of study and received his CFP® certification in 2007 www.cfp.net . His licenses include Series 7 (General Securities), Series 31 (Managed Futures), Series 63 (Uniform Securities State), and Series 65 (Uniform Investment Advisor).
